Writing a Beginner's Guide to Stumbleupon (SU) Is not a easy task , It takes lot of time and screen shots.So I just want to extend the tutorial Made by Blogpond.Once you finish reading that tutorial you will have some Idea about SU And now lets move on little further with this tutorial.
So once you register for SU You will have a profile URL similar to my profile URL http://mnvamsi.stumbleupon.com/ (replace my user name with your User Name) Now this is How My Home page look like.Open the Image in a new tab to have a better view.
Now I divided My Home page into 5 Parts and I will explain them in detail.
PART 1: This shows different tabs you have in your SU account.We will discuss about Home and People tabs because they are the one which matters for Beginner's.
PART 2: This shows The number of messages you received and other number of new visitors to your profile.
PART 3: You can send a request to your friends asking them to join SU via "Connect your friends"."Browse people" is People matching your search.View page as others see it shows how your profile looks to others.Find pages you liked is the list of categories.
PART 4: This shows your favorites.And the discovered under favorites shows your SU submissions.So you can see my submissions out here.
PART 5: This shows Number of pages you like and number of subscribers you have and number of reviews you received.
"WEBSITES" Tab shows Recently Popular Websites.
"PEOPLE" Tab is one of the important tab you have to know as a beginner. Here is a screen shot of people tab.
You can find people who are online out here.I divided this screen shot in to 2 parts where Part 1 has three more options which can help you to get the type of friends you need.And part 2 shows people online depending on the category you selected.
Now How to add a friend and send a message to him: Adding a friend is really easy you can select any person from the people tab click on the add him as a friend or add her as a friend link.You can see the screen shot of the link out here.
You can also subscribe to your friend and send him a message and stumble his favorites.you can see this in part 2 of the above screen shot.
Now How to stumble a friend and review his article: Select your friend and under his favorites click on discovered link.You can find his submissions there.Open the web page in a new window and stumble the submission if you like it using the SU browser Tool bar.Or you can find the SU add on for Mozilla out here Install It to Mozilla and stumble.
You click on the review link (find it the above screen) and you will be directed to review page .You can submit your review there and add tags if possible and click add my review to add the review.
Video tab in your profile shows Recently Popular Videos.
